EDITING PROCESS & EFFECTS

The editing process has always been the best part to any film project, editing and adding effects to make the raw footage to the style you want it, makes everything you've filmed worth it.

During the editing process I wanted to experiment with premiere a lot more than I previously had, I wanted to experiment more with colour correction but also with the way I use effects, I haven't experimented with effects a lot & certain types of shots I wanted to shoot that I was in, would need a extra camera operator, with not having that I re-searched ways to apply certain movements within premiere.

Below is a list of all the effects I used, alongside my research & comparisons to the footage I shot.

SLOW ZOOM SHOT

Slow zoom shot is probably the easiest effect, yet one of the most effective - it slightly moves the camera in, just like you would if you was slowly zooming directly with the camera, with this effect not only is it a lot more smoother in my opinion than via hand but it's very easy & quick to make a shot looking bad, to looking good.

The down side is you do lose quality as you go in, where as you wouldn't with a camera - but the effect it creates when you apply music, sound effects & everything else to the final production really brings up the mode & tone.

I applied this to the shots, it felt most appropriate too - I didn't want to over do this effect but I found myself applying it to shots now & then that didn't need it. Upon this I think I finally selected the right shot's to create the audience to feel involved with the clip & to draw their attention to certain objects within shots.

FLASH BACK SHOT

Towards the end of my short film, I wanted to include a flash back scene - where a voice would guide the audience and the visuals would match. To this I wanted to learn how to create a flash back effect - I thought it would be hard but to researching it I can across this tutorial that made it really simple & easy.

SMALL EFFECTS/IMPROVEMENTS

STABILIZE

Certain shots I took, I wanted to create a more fluent motion to where I simply applied the stabilize tool, this quickly turned shaky footage into a more smooth & relaxed scene & that's exactly what I wanted.

SOUND EFFECTS

Sound effects are almost a separate thing to premiere, because it's just another audio clip but I used certain audio clips when I felt shot's needed more of a realistic sound to them, for some shots the normal audio worked perfectly, but some needed added sound.

WIGGLE TEXT EFFECT

I noticed that there wasn't something right with my title appearing, it felt okay but needed something and so I searched for simple effects I could add & had in mind a slight wiggle effect, something that would animate the letters to move, to this I came across this tutorial
