UNIVERSITY COURSES

TASK: EXPLORE THROUGH UCAS AT LEAST FIVE UNIVERSITY COURSES THAT YOU MAY OR WILL BE CONSIDERING TO APPLY FOR, SHOWING SCREEN SHOTS OF THE COURSE & ENTRY REQUIREMENTS, WITH YOUR REASON FOR SELECTING

1) Upon coming onto the UCAS website, I selected a search for ''Media Production'' with it coming up with over 400 results, around the UK. I wanted to look for places I knew such as local surrounding area's as Exeter, Taunton etc and then further away such as up around London & in one case further area's.

2) After research around and looking at the different Entry requirements I came across 5 that sounded and looked really interesting, most with entry requirements I can meet and a few that I really liked and applying to them wouldn't hurt.

I came across this course taking place in London, so not local but London is a huge city with a lot of oppuntites dispute attending university there. What I liked about this course is the way they described it, they described it more as a space, a creator space and not course, they make seem as its more of a hands in thing and rather like that thought and style of the course.

The course takes place over 3 years however during this time I'd gain a BA (Hons) Content, Media & Film Production from the University of West London delivered by ScreenSpace, a portfolio of work, a business or career plan and the skills I need to achieve success & the chance to go out into industry as a technician for hire, a creative entrepreneur or a screen professional.

The second year of the course also focuses on creating something but also finding a online audience focusing at social media & that is something that also really interests me into this course & university.

The entry requirements include

I picked this course one for the location, is rather local so travel from there to home is do able if I deiced not to stay around the university. The next part I like of this is the chance that you get to work both independently and in production teams. The next part I liked about this course is the connections they have, not only does it make the course alot more fun because you have the chance there and then to work with companies but it also personally opens up contacts & skills into the industry

It's a 2 year course so not as long as the previous course, and only requires

This course is further out across sea but for obvious reasons I do have a plan to move out there and if any university is a option I would be looking at one over there, Queens university in Belfast is such a well shown uni and so I found a course in Films studies and production over there.

I like the way it's about storytelling, it's a 3 years course being full time, however with this one the entry requirements are much more than I have

I next came across another course in London but what stood out for me is that it's personally taught by professionals, it has highlight week for their students having a screening at the Prince Charles Cinema in Leicester Square. Where, industry figures, alumni, and friends and family will all be able to celebrate your work.

They also take huge pride in taking place in film festivals and competitions on what I really like.

My last option being a Film & Television course at the University of Cumbria on what is the furthest away, I like their opening to the course here with it being '' You’ll rapidly develop high-level technical, creative and professional skills through hands-on studies to produce quality films and television programmes'' and I like that alot, straight into creating, hands on work and studies but what I like more is that in recent years it has hosted Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Snow White and the Huntsman, World War Z and The Avengers: Infinity War.

And that makes this area and location a rather popular place to get out into the industry.

''students get the chance to work on large-scale professional productions, getting great first-hand experience, which has led to work offers''

Every week you’ll be out planning, shooting or editing a film, working on a wide range of projects - from commercials to documentaries; scripts to multi-camera productions; short films to music videos. - Dispute this being a challenge, i really like that too, this course offers so much and such a chance to get my name out there.

It's also a 3 years course, with a small requirement of just

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, i still don't know if i will go to university but i'm glad that i looked into them because it's changed my mind set into at least applying and having the chance there and the space there if i need it & it's open up my mind to how helpful uni can be and how some work with professionals and film companies that make high end, award winning films.

what i would like to do though, is take a year out between college & uni and work or take time to think about things and if nothing works out between then apply for uni a year later.

RESPONSES

Prior to applying, I have received some responses to my applications, the first one I received was from the University of Cumbria, where I have got a invite to attend a interview, this uni being last on my selection & furthest away however having the most engaging description

''You’ll rapidly develop high-level technical, creative and professional skills through hands-on studies to produce quality films and television programmes''

With a lot of high end films being produced & filmed here.

I have also gotten emails from other universities however nothing to confirm a place or invites to interviews
