MEETING THE CLIENTS & EXPERIMENTATION SHOTS

This blog post represents the on shoot meeting the client & behind the scenes of filming along, before hand tests and on shoots tests & re-shoots. By documenting the outcome of the testing and meeting with the clients it opens up a clearly idea on how to approach things better next time.

MEETING THE CLIENTS

Previous to arriving at the clients house, I was doing some filming with Alan for a possible shoot idea for his video, so since we were outside the clients house, we went round the back way to wait in their garden for them, however upon entering they was already back from being out and so we had the chance to start right away with filming, myself and Alan met with the clients wife who offered drinks. Alan had a idea of where to film, as he knows them very well and so I headed up stairs to this lovely open room to where we would film the interview, upon that I took upon the chance to take quick photos and video's of the client himself walking around and being himself as possible footage to use within the final video, since our client struggles very much to get words out, we did a few interviews asking the questions over and over, to where we also got a interview where his wife, would come in if need be to give more detailed answers to use, below are some behind the scene shoots of the interview taking place.

ALEX & TRIV

Here I created a simple set up for the interview, it had great lighting and looked amazing!, I used a over the top camera mic on what is not shown on the image unfortunately as I took this just after finishing the interview, however I had also placed a tascam alongside that next to the clients to pick up their voices better. After recording the interviews, I took time to go around their house with permission and take filler shoots, of interesting things to use within the spiting of questions & overall to make the visuals of the film more interesting.

MEERA

Meeting with Meera was a completely different shoot compared to when meeting with Alex & Triv, Meera who is recorded and interviewed in the footage below, was from London and so we thought it would not only be easier to zoom call her but it would also make sense to show the ability with the WIB and how we don't have to be with her to understand how she feels, we can see the WIB on her and know how she feels the minute we call without asking, it also mixed up the footage on what is something I personally like.

During the interview, we recorded both the screen via computer and camera to give multiple different angles and to be able to mix it up slightly, I went through the same questions during the interview as I did with Paul (Alex & Triv)

As opening the video, the interview alone was almost 30 minutes, just showing how much detail we got from Meera compared to what we got from Alex & Triv.

TESTS FOR INTRODUCTION & ENDING

The problem I faced with these is in the editing process they just didn't work, some shots where too dark and some shots just overall didn't work, but im glad I took the time to go out and try something because overall I got some really nice shots during this process, that with a little bit of editing to them would look really nice on a project.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion meeting with the clients taught me a lot & opened me up to different roles & approaches, for example when meeting with Alan it was a more professional role & business like & slowly became more friendly, lets have fun doing this project type of role but with Alex & Triv, I had to have a much different approach, one because they where clients but also because the sort of questions I was asking & the reason behind the filming, I had to approach it in a friendly way that wouldn't offend or upset them.

From filming skills to even client skills, it overall taught me a lot, allowing me to underline the problems that occurred and change and fix them during the shoot.

I learnt and built on my clients skills, where I met with Paul and his wife, alongside Meera who are both clients of Alan's and this further built my skills with directing them and asking them questions and getting the best answers back. This overall taught me how to get the best answers out of people and how I should be asking them in a way to get the both response.

During the filming process I focused at a range of shots, to where I built upon camera skills. Working with Alan's shot, it taught me directly how to film and work with what I had to get the smoothest shot I could, working with the clients, it taught me and brought me to understand more what filler shots, I would need and allowed me to work directly with the location as a location that I had never been to, to understand and pick what would work best, and working with Paul and his Wife allowed me to once again get the best response with answers in a interview formed filming production. To where I used my skills within interview filming to get the best interview style shot (Medium shot) to capture the emotion and answers of the client.

I learnt how to create a story throughout the location we had and captured the shots i needed.

And the same goes with working with Meera, client skills, better understanding of her life and even learning more about the WIB (the product I'm working to promote) Working with clients was the biggest thing I learnt throughout the process of these shoots, understanding them as clients, and as individuals.
